Keep your cat from terrorising your Betta
My daughter has two Bettas and our cats were determined to drink from their bowls. I am certain that every time they did that they frightened the fish out of their fins. Solution:
We took some thin gold colored wire (about 2 yards) and threaded about 12 pretty beads on to it. We shook them down the wire into random spots.
Then we simply bent the wire into a spiral / circle with lots of curls and twirls. Don't sweat it - it will look great.
Make sure that the circle is criss crossed with lines (to keep the cat out and the fish in) and has little flaps occasionally around the edge (to keep it on the bowl). Supplies:
2 yards of craft wire - any color
12 or so beads
1 pair of wire cutters
Time: 5 minutes Ta da - decorative bowl lid!
Discouraged cats and added bonus of foiling any suicide jumps on the part of the fish. In the pic you can see the white tube - the fish love hiding in it and swimming through it. Find it cheaply at your local hardware store in the plumbing dept :)
Make sure it is clean before introducing it to your fish. |

You have solved one major problem that you had from the start. Betta tend to jump from bowls when there isn't a lid. Many people go out for the day, only to return and find a dried up fish led on the table. I recommend everybody purchase a tank/bowl with a lid from the start, or follow the steps listed above and make your own decorative betta lid.
